Audio system installed : now acceleration is 50%

I just got an EVO IX in Shanghai, and I installed a custom system, the installers said it was about 100kg. However, now after I try to drive it, the speed is very slow. A bit faster than my Peugeot 307. What I see happening when I try to drive it fast is that the Revs go up to 5K and then noticeable and instantly slows down, you can get it to the 8 and 9K redline, but the torque is maxed at 5K you can feel it. And this is for each gear. Essentially now, to get the max acceleration, you have to shift up at 5K revs, but I know from driving it before the installation of audio, when the revs hit 7-9K the feeling is exhilarating. Now the feeling is gone, and the installers say its just the weight, but it doesn't make sense, any opinions?

-Really concerned with my new ride.

sounds to me like they drove it like they stole it, or they disconnected some vaccum or during the wiring or just plain ****ed up the hole installation

Blown clutch much? Never leave your keys with anyone unless you absolutly trust them, whether you're in a Taurus or a Ferrari. Rally cross much?

100 kg is too much weight ! .. that's like having 2 extra people in your evo.. so yes i would expect the evo to slow down. due to the weight. and they might as well messed up the installation.
the evo is not really a car to put on a Big sound system, in the trunk for the nieghborhood to hear n stuff ! ..

I concur. Why would you want to add all that extra weight to a car that is meant to drive fast and hard? That must be one hell of a sound system to weigh 100kgs.

If it were a blown clutch, the RPMs would go up much faster than a clutch in working condition. However, if he means the car is slowing down while the RPMs keep increasing, that is a different story....he needs to elaborate a bit more on the symptoms.

Keep that stereo where it belongs - your home

Or is it that it was made in China and contained a lot of lead?

j/k

Yes it does seem a little fishy, maybe the guy at the shop used your car to improve his girlfriends stick driving as well as himself...
