hvac relocation question/idea

for those of you that have messed around with relocating the hvac controls, can the wires connecting to the unit be extended? im wondering how possible it would be to extend the wires and run them under the dash, up the pilar and over to the sunglass holder. Then make some kind of custom bracket that will open and close like the original sun glass holder. ive compared the size of the existing hvac control unit and the sunglass spot, and its pretty close, this definatly seems possible to me, i just need to know about the wires, ive never seen the actual unit. thanks.

how would you control the temperature change if there's a mechanism in the back that moves the vents open and closed?

Basically it's mechanical and not electrical on the temp change so relocated up there would be sort of impossible. Unless somehow a mechanism of some sort was left in the old place of the the controls remotely controlled from above to automatically shift the temp vents.

^yeah, me thinks he doesn't know about that! It's not like more expensive cars with an all digital read out. We've got actual cables running to them knobs!

Good idea though...
