Best 16" rally tyres are Michelin Michelin 16/66-16 FB 80 or similar at a cost of about US$190 each or Dunlop 195/70-16 SP82 at a cost of about £130 each

Unless the stages are long its usually best to go with a medium compound - but sometimes you can only get the hard compound in 16" - if so treat them with tyre softener such as Grip - http://www.griptyresoftener.com

The other option is to get a set of brakes from an RS evo or a Gallant VR4 or similar which are small enough to allow 15" rims to be used, but it's not an ideal solution.

I use 16" rims and I find they work well.

looks like it might cost a little to get a good setup (tire/brakes). I too would like to get started into rally.

7" rim width is the most common - it depends what tyres you can obtain.

It's important to get wheels that will clear the calipers - such as:

Rallycross is for rallying like autocross is for track racing.

Find a rallycross in your area and have a blast
