Whatever you are trying to say is BS. I am holding the proof in me hands and chacked for myself just to reconfirm. It is the whole "what makes an evolution ready for the next evolution" shpeel. The brochure for the 8 and 9 evo's The turbos are in fact different, and it would be more involved than swapping housings and center sections.
So again it cannot be done, and better yet why would you want to?

You can purchase the complete 20G-LT turbo, which is also known as the Evogreen from a few places. Buschur Racing sells it, as does Forced Performance and even LancerShop.

I don't think that the manufacturer, Forced Performance, will sell you just the center housing rotating assembly by itself, if that's what you are asking. There is a long waiting list for this turbo however. So you'll need to vest yourself in patience.

Ken: Brace yourself. As a practical matter, the only significant difference between a USDM IX turbo and an '05 USDM VIII turbo, is the compressor housing.

They both have the single flapper 10.5 turbine housing and identical compressor and turbine wheels. The only functional diference is the compressor housing.

EDIT: Ken, I have heard some reports that the IX has a different diffuser(whatever that is?), and a different backing plate on the compressor side, and that there might even be some difference in the compressor's inducer. I really don't know for sure.

I do know that as a practical matter you can send your VIII turbo into either Blouche Turbos or Forced Performance and that for a very minimal fee they will slap a IX compressor housing onto your VIII turbo, giving you for all intents and purposes the functional equivalent of a IX turbo.

Besides, you shouldn't argue with me because I already have the advantage of one...or is that two beers

Those 20gs appear to be the old style. Very similar to the 20g9-5 or 20g9-6.

What does it take to make a EVO 8 TME 20G http://lancershop.com/customer/produ...&cat=17&page=1 into a Evo 9 20G? Or is it even worth it?

We aren't talking about a Tommi Mak. No Ti No Mag. No Inconel.

Sabastian we've rehashed this topic multiple times. If you search you'll find it. But, to make it brief...you would just need to have a IX compressor housing bolted on in place of the VIII compressor housing. Caveat: A stock IX housing would require machining to accept the 20G wheel.

Thank you for the input. Even though we got a little sidetracked. Does the compressor wheel differ from the other 20g's? or the housing or what exactly is the difference.

Thanks for the info. In defense, if Evom had a better search engine so you can search multiple words, I might have found it.
