this question is not about EVOs, but my friend wants to know if u can swap a DMS engine in a 1997 mitsubishi eclipse RS with a 420A engine. he also want to know if he have to do any modifications to the engine comparment so the DMS engine can fit......... Yes, it can be done. There are quite a few Dodge Avengers that were swapped from 420A motors to 4g63s and other 2g powerplants.

The 4g63 is actually turned 180 compared to the 420A.

 

Not the Evo 4g63. In all honesty I would recommend swapping in a 4g64 engine/transmission from a 4cyl 2000-2005 eclipse or a 1999-2003 galant. More displacement by .4 Liters and those engines have already been proven time and time again to be able to handle enough boost to produce 300whp reliably not to mention those engines can be purchased from a junkyard for $400 compared to the Evo 4g63 *approximately $1000* if you get a good deal.
