Noice when car is cold.
Noice when car is cold.
I have noticed over the past couple of days that when I start the car in the morning I hear a noise. It seems to come from a belt or one of the pullies. When the car heats up, it seems to go away. Anyone hear of this problem before. Just want to check before I take my car into the stealership.
Considering you have an 06 Evo it's probably just belt sqeak which is not that big of a deal but since it's still under warranty go take it to them, maybe it's too loose or too tight.
It doesn't really whine.....when its cold it makes a rubbing sound that increases when the motor rpms increase. I have noticed a slight whine at about 6500 rpms under acceleration . Not sure if it's related. I am going to ask around to see which stealership in Houston I should take my car to.

I grabbed a hollow tube and headed out to my cold motor this morning. I listened as closely to each pully as possible, oil, alt., what looks like a tension pully, etc. It sounds like its coming from either the crank or the tensioner
I dunno how to figure out which exactly it is. They are soo close together and you can't really hear one over the other. I can only tell it's coming from that area.

I took the car into Conroe Mitsubishi. They checked out my car and found the problem to be the oil pump. They had never heard of one going out before. The service department there is awesome!! I have never said that about a service department before. Anyway, they are replacing it under warranty and I pick it up today. It was a long drive for me but well worth it. Just for those who are curious, the car did not have any mods on it when it went in to the dealership.
