What HP/TQ qould this setup net me?

Newbie here so I apologize in advance...

Evo IX SE with:

-Custom tune on dyno
-3in exhaust (not sure if going w/ cat or not)
-air filter kit (cone)
-Manual boost controller

Also, should I have a certain # of miles on the car for break in b4 performing these mods? I have 300miles currently.

It's my new daily driver, so starting off small and trying to keep the car relatively quiet (cat really quiet things down or not so much?) . Just wondering if this is enough to make the old men in Porsche's spill their Starbucks all over them or not?

thx.

Ideally drive 1000 miles before modding.
Go for a catless exhaust, it'll get you a touch more hp, and same price. plus, it sounds a lot better.
power? 330-350 with a good tune

try doing what i did - I have effectively those same mods (plus some little stuff that doesn't add much power) and tune for race gas. it works out good for me, cause its not a dd and i have a race gas pump by my house. you gain a TON of power by doing that, it's a blast.

*and by good tune i mean pretty aggressive, haha

93 octane. I realize one of the EVO's advantage is abilty to launch, butt I like my clutch, we'll see how many 5k RPM launches I'll do haha.

Catless exhaust may sound better when u want to hear it but on a 4 hr. highway trip with the GF I want it to be as quiet as possible. I heard the cat restricts power (obviously) but doesn't really quiet things down much on a full 3in exhaust...true or not?

Aftermarket high flow cat will quiet things down somewhat. The stock cat is like a brick wall, get rid of it immediately. Try to purchase a quiet exhaust as well, if that's what you need. Search the word "quiet" and you'll find endless info on your choices..

Buy (or put together) a turbo-back setup before you go get tuned, most 2.75 or 3" downpipes out there are pretty cheap and nearly identical. Go with a test pipe or HFC, through to your catback exhaust, and you'll get the most out of your tune.

Edit: but break it in first!

Thats exactly what I've done to my IX, and I made 336whp/337wtq on a dynojet at 24psi.

Here's the link: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=280547

BTW, if you can deal with the noise/odor, get the test pipe. You'll probably get around 10hp from it, but more importantly the Turbo spools much quicker.

awesome 06rs, thx for the link. U went with test pipe...hypothetically, would u be comfy driving into a quant, quiet neighborhood at 6am to drop your kid off at day care or do u think u'd wake the entire street with the noise from your exhaust? Also, would u be comfy with a new GF in the passenger seat (who isn't so into performance cars) driving from philly to NYC or would she stab need earplugs?
(trying to get a feel for how loud a cat-less exhaust is. thx.)

Also, do you find yourself being able to smoke the average M3/S4/lower level Porsche during your daily commute?

The noise a test pipe will produce really depends on the exhaust system. I have a Buschur TBE with a Magnaflow muffler. My exhaust isn't too loud. It gets loud when you get on it, but just cruising around at low RPM's isn't obnoxiously loud. I f I had the Buschur Bullett muffler, that would be a different story. Use the search function on this site, and you'll find a number a threads dealing with loud/quiet exhausts. Some people use resonators, and resonated test-pipes to lessen the noise.

You'll be fine

I don't street race, but I don't think any of the cars above would stand a chance. (at least until 100mph)
