Looking for some Tip's.

Hey well I havent been on this forum for a while. Well anyway now in the market for a Evo! So tomorrow i'm going to check out a 2006 MR. So my questions are what should I look for in the car that would show that the car has been abused? Or in bad shape? It looks great inside and out. But are there some certain thing that i should look into?

Thanks.

Peter.

*edit* Sorry if this isn't the right thread.

Make sure it shifts nice and smooth, and that the clutch isnt slipping. Also look for anywhere that bolts have been taken out/put back in etc. I wouldn't buy unless it was completely stock or at least minor mods that are done right. Check for paint chipping or fading on the front bumper/hood, and on the calipers and also the spoiler. Enjoy!

Thanks. The car only has a Exhaust and Tein damper kit on it. Only 22k miles. Clean Title and Carfax. Warranty still for 50k. I would also get Bumper to Bumper. And couple carbon fiber pieces.

personally i wouldnt buy anything with suspension because that can mess up the alignment and it could really mess up the car if not done right and you cant really tell by just looking at it...you have to notice it while ur driving but u might not hear/feel it

Do you have shop or mechanic that knows evos and you trust? See if the seller would have a problem with you or him taking it there to get checked out. If the seller has an issue than something up.

IMHO:
I would def. take it to a shop you trust and have them look over it.
If they give you a problem , take your business elsewhere.
just my 02..

You could send in an oil sample for analysis.

http://www.blackstone-labs.com/

Check under the front lip for scratches. Only a dumbass drives their car up on curbs.

See if it has mods or has had mods, look for bolts that look like they have had sockets on them.

(airbox bolts, spark plug cover, etc)

Of course look for broken putty welds, signs of paint work etc, check VIN stickers on body panels and glass to make sure they match (all panels on a IX have a VIN sticker)
