should i worry

i cut a corner to sharp and hit the rear wheel riping a piece of my tire. my question is do you guys think this tire could rupture on the freeway, the tear only looks superficial. is there any tire glue that would keep the loose piece from coming off? i would not mind getting a new tire but i don't really want to go trough the hassle of getting my tired shaved down to match the others.

Oohh.. That's a deep chunk dude.. I'd have to say, buy a new one.. If you simply drive around town with it temporarily, ok.. But there's no way you keep the speed down in that car.. That's a bad one.. In my opinion..

Def buy a new one. Look on the for sale forums here and you may be able to pick up one used cheap, then you dont have to get it shaved down.

I'd have to agree, you should get it fixed for the "just in case" factor. It may not be that bad, and you can more then likely drive on it, but why take the risk?

That will blister and then pop. It may take a while or it can happen quickly... all I can say for sure is that it better not happen while your taking a turn. If so, your car will feel like it's sliding on water (no rear tire to support weight transfer) and you will oversteer. How much oversteer depends on your speed.

Drive to the tire shop and replace it right away. Get road hazard insurance and be done with it. Tires is not a place to save on money.

especially with performance tires with high air pressure i'd get a new one.
If it was a civic or something with standard all season radials with a chunk like that, i've driven till the tire was bare and it never bubbled or popped.

you can never be too safe. you'll be glad you bought 1 tire now instead of crashing later, paying for repairs and possibly hurting yourself or others.

easy choice IMO.

Looks like it needs to be replaced...

Had this happen before and was surprised how thin the sidewalls are. In my case a very small, thin piece of tin metal flipped up hitting the side as I drove over it at slow speed. But it was just enough force to slice it. Didn't do anything to the tread.

You realize that if those are worn, you have to replace all 4 or have that one shaved? According to the manual, itll ruin the diff having a different size tire on one corner
