Sti transmission vs evo transmission

i was told that the STI transmission can withstand alot more abuse than an evo, is the evo transmission really THAT weak?

Thats the best thing you can say to this thread, If the driver sucks the trannys gonna go no matter what type of car. Thats why 95% of honda's have blown trannys

well im talking about like let's say if the same driver, launched both cars the same number of times, which would give first. My friend keeps telling me that the sti transmission is so much stronger than the evo transmission and can withstand more abuse.

i don't see how this is a dumb thread as it's good for comparisons sake. the sti tranmissions/drivetrain is HANDS down stronger then evos easily. i love my evo however by no means am i fan boy that will make up excuses blaming our transmissons breaking due to driver error all the time (yes somtimes that is the case. do a search on nasioc and see how many sti transmission failure threads you come up with. then do a search on evoM and see how many you get.

the sti transmission is also bulkier and beefier when compared side by side to a evo transimisson. the sti tranmission is over all engineered better, and his bigger thicker gears etc etc. you catch my drift

yeah this is not a bad question. I HATE when people jump on other people for asking a question. Alot of jerks on here. Anyways, a friend of mine has an sti and from what ive seen he's not had any tranny problems at all and auto x's it every weekend it seems. I'd probably say the evo tranny's are a lilttle weaker, but im not an expert.

My Evo has gone 9's - I am not sure how much abuse my STI trans will take - its a great trans but the gears are very short

the only reason why people are thinking the evo transmissions are weaker is only because of the syncro's. but interms of power, buschur has shown that the evo transmissions handled a number of 8-9 sec passes.

i dont think anyone has shown that yet with the STI 6 speed.

i will bet, if you get the same whp and wtq sti to the same evo driver ,who blow they tranny ...they will blow the sti tranny also.
on the side note the 03-04 evos had syncro problem.
