ok so some of you may know and msot of you dont that i have been hearing some weird type of noise coming from under my car. first it was just when i took off and stopped and it was just a banging noise, i thought exhaust maybe, but now its a like a rattling type noise, almost has like a slight grinding nosie to it, it weird, actually it sounds like a garbage disposal but for only one split second when you shut off the car. and when you drive it and hit the brakes hard,it squeels everytime you do it, but its not the brakes, its like something is shifting underneath the car and making a squeek noise. what the f could this be?! t case? i have no idea. thank you

so if you are sitting still, the car grinds when you shut it off? Well then you can eleminate the parts that only work/move when the car is moving!

 

I think I have the same noise that you do... When i turn off my car and the engine stops firing at idle I get a slight squeaking noise... Granted, I have a lot into my engine including gsc 272s... so I am at the point of "drivetrain" before I even think about engine. My tcase is starting to whine too, so I am going to rebuild the Tcase and transmission then the engine =)

 

Ya when its shutting off it shakesand rattles n grinds, it sounds like crap, its not so bad on startup though, I have no clue what it is, I'm taking it to a shop around town just to take a look at it. Any other inputs?


And ya that will be nice when your done building up your tcase n tranny, then it will be unbreakable

 

its prob youe exhaust......same problem with my camaro, exhaust was to clost to bottom of car, added longer spacers and never had it again......go under your car and check it out

 

Ya I thought for a while now that it was exhuast, but I have checked it a few times now and I can't see where the exhaust would be causing the noise, it doesn't hit the drivetrain or tcase or the oil pan

 

are you running a test pipe or high flow cat? if so and your using anti foulers to space out the 02 sensor maybe its rubbing on the undercarriage. and your 100% sure your dp isnt touching the lower cross member bars?
