1000 miles = Demo Car....and thats still on the higher end of miles on most demo cars......dealerships I got to sell the demos before they get to 500 kms or about 300 miles.
Imagine all the beatings an Evo 8 has taken in that 1000 miles....the salesman, customers, person who drove it up from indiana.....poor car.

This sounds like the southern oregon dealerships that i talked to except they said 42k.
luckly it was a phone call bid cuz i woulda have hated to have the coffee that is spit out all over my desk to have landed on the sales person.....

The dealership I bought mine from had a demonstrator from MMC and that is what I test drove. My car had a whopping 8 miles on it when I took delivery.
Tell the dealer you won't pay mark-up. Come with financing in place and some money down and they will want your business. If they still insist on marking it up, then find another source.
The sticker on mine was +$5000, but I refused, had $3000 down and my own financing in place.
Good luck.

Being still in the market myself & alaska I have to deal with crazy stuff like this too, Im already pretty sure that i'll end up buying out of state. the only pain inthe *** is that my local bank (a "credit union") wont fiance me, maybe i'll try a different bank or something.. stupid credit unions

Ideas on deal making
Give that a try, it sounds like a good idea, maybe needs to be modified a bit for your situation. but its got good stuff in it (read through the thread a bit, you'll see the section on this guys offer)

I've gone into one dealer with a huge down payment and had my own financing. I still couldn't get a test drive or talk about a price because they claimed they needed me to fill out all the paperwork to buy the car first and run my credit. I asked the salesmen if it was some kind of policy and to see it in writing. He wouldn't show it to me and when I asked for the manager I was told he was busy. Screw that I just left. When it gets closer to the end of the model year they will finally get around to treating customers like they are valuable. Doesn't Mitsubishi care about the crap their dealerships are pulling?
1000 miles and they're selling it as "new". HELL NO!
anyways, Modesto Mitsubishi here in Modesto, CA are currently running commercials on our local TV stations and they stating they have 10 evos in stock with no mark-up. i haven't called them for a confirmation but here's their phone: 1.888.440.6487

well i appreciate the advice guys, ima think about it, but first i have to have my dad co-sign then i gotta get a loan and see what they will give me for my WRX (lotsa mods, 365 HP) and other stuff
I bought my slightly used Evo (yeah, they exist) just recently. The dealership tried to sell me a used Evo for - get this - 34,000$.
I fought with them and got it for much lower, but I had to basically walk out, start to drive away and this after I yelled at them for lying about the price over the phone (they told me 28k) and then trying to get my to buy a new one instead for 40k.
Stay away from Capitol Mitsubishi in San Jose, Ca. They are the ones famous for the 20k markup on the Evo when it first came out.

got mine for $30,431.00....i think with 100k warranty, shifter, pedals, nice new strut, tint, tax, tags...etc...out the door was $34k...took me 2 and a half hours from the time i said yes i want it...to the time i took the keys...got a mid 3's int rate...cant remember specifics...i knew i was getting the best deal i could, cause i happen to be friends with the finance manager...it was the most pleasant car buying experience ever...i love my evolution...i wish it was like that for everyone...its a pain in the *** to deal with dealerships most the time...i've had some super bad experience at the dealership before myself...
