Evo 8.5 is a success!
Well guys after a year of hard work and stress its finally finished.
I put all the fluids in checked for leaks got a brand new battery just to be safe.
Primed the turbo for a few secs for a min.
Put the coils back on and cranked it..........
No go sounded like timing was off !!!!!!!
Checked over everything , noticed i forgot the passangerside coil plug
So i ran back into the car turned it on, and VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
Jestr tune ftw
finally I dunno if im the first or close to the first but the evo 9 engine , with evo 8 tranny and xfercase is a complete success.

sorry the flash made it look kinda cheesy in these last 2

1) MIVEC
2) IX turbo
3) revised cooling passages in head to help suppress knock - this is why most IX's are able to run an extra 1-2lb of boost on pump gas without knocking - as compared to VIII's...
nice work - Evo 8.5 FTW!!!!
(so, was this actually cheaper than buying a used IX?
)

Well i had got T'd in a accident last november and upon repairing the body damage and when i refilled the coolant i noticed it leaked pretty bad from passanger side and i removed the mount and i had a crack in the block.

Turbo size diff "this is actually my FPgreen that i sold but the size is the same as stock 9"

Anyways i picked the engine up with all assesories for 3k. wiring harness for 300, and ecu for around 300. so around 3600 for the parts needed in the swap.
I payed 22 for the car last year with 16k miles on in which sucks cause that motor was still very new. but now this new one has 7,500 on it.
Basically this would be cheaper then buying a used 9 , But their are some down falls to not doing the "COMPLETE Swap" No acd, and i dont get the gears from then evo 9 "those can be changed easily anyways so no biggy"
Im not worried about acd though because i dont auto x or road race.
Thanks for you guys support over the past year, Alot of good info on here that has helped me get threw this.
