So, $500 later, I got the civic fixed. It's time to park the bad boy again. Well at least until the civic breaks again.

The dealer said that the bearings in the distributer went out. So the cap and rotor broke apart and I could get no spark. I don't know why it would go out cause Hondas are great engines and this one only has 53k. I've owned 2 accords, 3 preludes-98's, and 2 s2000. So I have a history with these cars, but aside from the s2k, I love the evo the most.

Yup stick with the civic as a daily car since you got it fix! Yeah that is pricey for a distributor.

lol, 50 miles per day, bought it brand new in feb 05, 56k on it, with mods+ 35R comming soon! lol.

I have too much fun in Evo, than drive a beater. Gas sucks, sometimes traffic. takes me an hour to get home and 45min to work. ;-z Thats why i cannot get rear wheel drive, cobra, m3, vette? because i have all season vehicle, Who needs 2nd car.

$500 was for parts, labor and tax. The new distributer, cap and rotor was around $350. As far as a daily driver, I would love to drive the evo till I'm blue in the face, but it's more cost effective to drive the civic. Plus when I want to upgrade things on the evo, I can take my sweet time cause I'm in no hurry to take it to work.

i hear ya man.. i downsized from my SVT Lightning, and my 5.0 commuter car to get the evo because i wanted to save money on commuting and ins. but it sucks to put so many miles on the evo. i bought it in the middle of may and already put 15,000 miles on her. i do over 700 a week for work myself. i think im going to pick up another street bike to use in the nicer months even though i gave up riding on the street years ago.

Sounds like a bummer bro. Good luck getting the civic fixed but enjoy the evo!!

Well my average mpg on the evo is around 18, but on a good slow day I've seen 32. And that's with no turbo. The civic gets 42 to 45, and that's regular vs. premium. So the civic saves alot of money.

You got ripped on the distributor. You probably could have picked one up from autozone for much cheaper and done the work yourself. It shouldnt have taken an hour to do it even for an unexperienced person. Glad you got your DD back. If i had a 90k mile drive to and from work id have a 500 dollar civic or something too

I only had to pay a $100 decut. from the car warranty. I bought the 93 civic with only 49,200 miles on it. That's insane for a car so old. It belonged to an elderly couple who traded it in on a Ridgeline. I happened to be at the dealership looking for a civic when they were in the middle of trading it in. So with the price of the car, plus the warranty, taxes and fees, I made it out of there for only $5k. A little high, but not bad for me.
