Winter drivers?

I wanted to see what you guys do with your evos during the winter? I really dont want to drive it in the winter due to all the salt in OH but maybe it wont be so bad. How many of you guys drive your evos in the winter? What kind of problems has it cause and what about damage to the paint or underbody of the car was noticed. I might just have to drive it for one winter so it will be stock. But if i have to drive it what are the effects on exhausts and intercoolers/ piping?

Any info would be helpful thanks!

I drive it all year - that's the point of owning an Evo, I thought. 3 years with no issues or damage after 1 winter in DC and 2 in Colorado.

This thing is a BLAST to drive in the snow!!!
My car seems fine, no ill effects from road salt or anything. Just keep a coat of wax on it, she'll be fine.

i used to only drive jeeps, and my evo is way better in the snow than any suv ive ever driven. just make sure you get proper tires, and wash it well during the winter.

I drive it as well the whole year.
Your car has warranty against corrosion for 8 years. So if there's any problem you can still complain

I just wash the underbody of the car at each wash to remove any salt which could have sticked under the car.

... + you need all season or winter tires with the evo, don't even try the advan in the snow. You will move but you won't be able to stop

Good deal, I have summer wheels so I'll probably just get a set of bridgestone blizzaks for the stocker rims and drive it. Thanks for the info!

I bought a cheap beater to get me around in the inclement weather. (I know, the evo is better in the snow or rain anyday, but I just can't bring myself to do it-haha!) NJ winters are wretched...not necessarily due to the weather, but the amount of salt on the road from late December-late March. the upside is my insurance went down...since the evo is now insured as a "pleasure vehicle."

F that I drive my EVO more in the winter. Its the main reason I bought the damn thing was sick of not being at the mountain during storms. The damn thing is a beast in the snow with good tires on it. The evo has alot of undercoating itll be fine

80k and 3 winters. Wouldnt have it any other way

I drove mine last winter here in upstate NY without any problems. As others said, you'll definitely want to change the tires if you do. I went with all season Yokohama's and they performed perfect.

have driven my evo all year round...drive it with as much confidence i would an suv (based on the height of the snow of course ) - I wouldn't know what to do if my evo was stashed away for a whole 3-6 mos or so...

Drive mine year round, its seen three winters. And now that im in CO itll see much more snow!

Well....i guess the climate here is about the same as Wisco, just the snow comes in spurts not blizzards!

Get some Conti extreme contact all-seasons (what i run) or if you are really worried or have around or over 350whp i would personally get blizzack winter tires.

I have the contis and they work well....BUT anytime im on boost all four wheels start spinning on the snow! Its just a matter of putting along slowly, accelerating very very slowly and staying off boost. If i mash the accelerator im guaranteed to go sideways even with the allseasons, but hover juts below 0psi and you should be okay. But literally, any time i get on the accelerator to the point that im on boost, all four wheels spin due to lack of traction.
