I sanded mine down and painted it flat black...took about 37 minutes of work, some masking tape, and a bit of paint. Never chipped, faded, etc.

do you have to sand it down? im considering painting the IX front sign flat black and all the grills for that nice clean look....

If you paint right over it, it wont adhere to the emblem good enough and any little scratch or nick may peel some of the paint off it

yeah, that's what i was thinking... thanks! cutting corners wouldnt be a good idea in this case. i thought about vinyl but, i dunno...
i was thinking of doing the nose chop on my 8 and getting the 9 mitsu front end eblem grill thingy, that's what i was going to paint...

i made myself a vinyl overlay and its been stuck on there for atleast 6 months and hasnt peeled up at all and it looks good too
