Im installing a Innovative wideband and im looking for an explanation why exactly these are used? I know it gives you maps and data lods for AFR but what exactly does it do for the car?

 

Its more for tuning purposes and monitoring.

Hey i was just told to buy it when i started talking to a guy in my area who is going to help me with tuning my car. The main thing i dont get is all it pretty much does is monitor your AFR. Its in no way hooked up to your car at all.

 

Its good to have so that way you can tell if your car is running healthy.

and yes that is exactly what the gauge does it moniter your AFR, which is crucial when tuning. Too rich and no power to lean and your engine blows.

 

That thing isnt bad to install anyway. Just need to have a drill,welder,and a solderer (Unsure Spelling). Just need to weld in the supplied bung any where after your turbo but before your cat in the range of 10 and 2 o'clock.

 

^ just go to a muffler shop and have the weld in a bung it will save you a headache and only cost $20.

 

I wish man but my car hasnt seen road in two years about. Plus i do have a garage but i got no tools.lol. I got a few scattered i scavenged like a ratchet and a couple sockets.lol. Luckily a friend i have his father is a mechanic and he lets me borrow stuff so that helps.
