2nd Owner Clause????

I picked up a used evo 8 about a week ago and the carbon fiber on the spoiler is starting to cloud. After some diggin around on the evoM boards I noticed alot of you guys where having this same problem and getting it fixed under warranty, which my car still has only having 42k miles. When I went into my dealer asking about this they simply replied they would normally do it but Im not the original owner Im the 2nd owner so they weren't sure if they could do it. Now is this correct or is the stealeship pullin a quick one on me?

Hmm. i bought my car (im the second owner) and the dealership said they would replace it and got it on order. i never got it replaced by them because i moved and the dealership said that all the work had to be done at the dealership that i bought the car at. there shouldnt be a problem with them replacing it. But if not i spent 15 bucks and reserfaced it myself. all i used is a sander, some clear coats, and about 6 hours of time to apply and let dry. looks as good as new

i think it only transfers if the owner sells/gives it to you with the car. if the owner pro-rates it when they sell the car i don't think you'll have a warranty. i'm not exactly sure on that, but i think i remember the dealer talking about that when i bought mine new. good luck, i hope you get it!

I'm going to try this also. I was denied a wheel bearing job because they told me I was the 3rd owner and warranty does not apply to anyone but the first owner.

you do NOT get the FULL warranty when you are the second owner...

Correct. You do loose a couple years of the warranty when it transfers

Don't know if anyone is still checking this post but I ended up just calling MMNA. They informed me that being the second owner does nothing to the warranty as long as your car is still in the mileage/year range for the basic and drivetrain it all transfers. MMNA is actually quite nice they informed me that if I have any trouble with the stealership to let them know and they will get corporate involved. Just FYI

You only get a 60k warranty. Not the full 100k
