Stock Battery Life?

I've had my 9 for about a year now... recently I've noticed that the car is cranking slower when starting for the first time in the morning.... today it was about 40 when I went to the garage and the car cranked significantly slower. I don't have any faith that the battery will make it through the winter at this point.

So, has anybody else had their stock battery kick the bucket after only a year or 1.5 years? I realize the car will crank slower in cold weather, but this is more on par with starting at 10 degrees, not 40.

The car is bone stock, no audio upgrades or anything.

I had my stocker for about 4 years till I upgraded to a mini battery. Never had any problems. Just upgrade to on that has higher cold cranking amps.

If I had to replace it I'd obviously upgrade it.. although I do have a bit of an issue with a battery only making it for 1 - 1.5 years, especially given the car is 100% stock from top to bottom. If I had an aftermarket system that was drawing tons of power I'd just buy something rather than waste my time with Mitsu..

I just called Mitsu and told them I'd drop by and have it load tested... It is covered under warranty for 24 months.. so if the battery is dying then I am going to get it replaced under warranty.

Most batteries are rated or warrantied for 36 months.

Mine is still going strong at 4.5 years. It doesn't show any signs on slowing down.

The second winter I had my car I noticed it was cranking slow. So, I yanked the battery and took it to Advance Auto. The have a big expensive battery tester to keep people from returning good batteries for warranty. They ran the the short test and it passed. The long test would take 15 minutes - did I want to wait? During this test the machine charges the battery and then checks to see if the battery holds the charge. It flunked.

So this is a very good no cost way of finding out if you have battery problems.

I had a 97 Eclipse I bought new and the battery went dead in 3 months. My 03 Evo's battery died in less than a year. I know a couple of people who have Mitsubishi's where their battery's died within the first year. I think most new cars come with cheap batterys esp. Mitsubishi

8 month with new IX MR and I have the same problem.
I do not use my car more than once a week but it's not an excuse.
Mitsu dealer says everythnig is ok...
I don't know if to change the battery or installing a small charger in my garage to maintain it loaded...
