Cam gears 2 teeth off..okay?
Cam gears 2 teeth off..okay?
I just installed cams on my evo ix and the cam gear isnt lined up perfect.... its 2 teeth off from being straight.... is this okay or do we need to go back and correct this?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Your supposed to make sure they top dead center because that effects timing. Normally theres a etched in mark on the cam gears so you can line the up. Im pretty sure about this maybe someone will tell me Im wrong in some way. I believe that either way your supposed to make sure that you had those already in line before you take them off.
Yah im pretty sure your supposed to make sure there lined up top dead center so everything is inline with each other. The cam gear being to teeth off will mess with your timing which im just assuming but im pretty sure seeing you adjust them to change your timing.
You have a ton of mods to be asking that question which would make people think that you have no idea what you are doing. Put the tools down and get someone that knows what they are doing. BTW the search function works great for finding out how to install the cams correctly

we've already started pulling the cam off and have a 3rd person holding it in place with a wrench while we bolt it down so it stays in the correct position.
Thanks for the responses guys!

This isnt the type of thing youd find with the search function.... too many useless posts for something like this..
now if i needed a bov ;-p i'd be a newbie to post up lol
the cam install is similar to the 8, but it has an oil filled gear on the intake cam....
It requires a 14mm Allen head and a 14mm socket to remove the gear....
it makes it easier to mark the cam where the dowel pin is on the cam itself, in order to make alignment of the gear itself easier....
otherwise fairly similar... there is also an intake cam position sensor like on the exhaust cam.
