Will a Lightened Flywheel Cause Boost to Increase?
My EVO 7 just recently got a new flywheel, that is slightly lightened...It seems to be more pwoerful on the top end of the REV range...and the mechanic says that he saw the boost spiking up to be at 1.7 BAR
Previously the car was tuned to be at 1.4 BAR with only an SAFC. It does not have any kind of aftermarket boost controller or anything like that. Just has headworks and full exhaust.
I've been driving it around, and it does seem more powerful. The boost Guage shows 1.45 BAR, but I really can't stare at it while boosting like that, so I haven't seen that spike they were talking about.
Just worried that I might be boosting too high and hurting the car.
I have Boost Guage, Oil Temp, Oil Pressure and EGT guages. Would monitoring the EGT be ok for now? Plan to take the car more regularly to the racetrack!
