3in exhaust back to Stock exhaust for a short time

Hi again

Is it safe to run a stock dp and stock cat on a car that has been tuned for 3in exhaust?

I just need to run it to the PA inspection station for them to look at it and then back home to where I will put the exhaust back the way I have it.

just stay out of boost... as your tune is used to a lot less back pressure...if you stay out of boost it should not matter at all

Why are you taking it off? I live in PA and never had a problem passing inspection.

I am running a 3 inch downpipe, stock cat, 3 in catback, and a flash...no problems thus far.

If you read carefully, he's tuned for 3inch TBE and going back to stock for inspection.

Whereas you are already tuned for your particular mod and not changing anything...

On the Camry, right?

He is asking if its ok to go back to stock exhaust when his car is tuned for his aftermarket exhaust.

Like everyone said, you will be fine. Turn down your boost some and you wont hit a high load so you wont go lean.

Where are you at in PA? I know that for emissions passing in PA you have to have no CEL tripped and I think pass the sniffer test. Not sure about the last part though.

If you say out of boost you'll be fine. Personally I would buy the darn cable and reflash the ECU with the stock tune.

You'll be fine.. The tuning required for a 3" exhaust is minimal anyway..

i believe everyone has it backwards, you can go WOT as you want frankly. in fact you will be going pig rich because you will most likely get significantly less flow. it means you will get slower spoolup and less boost, and much richer AFR so even safer. you can foul your spark plugs but thats another issue.

You are correct. I'm doing that right now damn defective equipment warning for my bullet muffler. Got to get inspected at the DMV.

Is the Check Engine light on? If it is not, you should pass emissions without a problem. PA emissions relies on the Evo's ECU to tell whether the emissions control systems are functioning. If you have the engine light, pick up a spark plug non-fouler. It is a $5 fix. With it your computer will think that your emissions controls are working.

The only hurdle you have to pass after that would be the visual inspection. I'm assuming your running a test-pipe. Find a shop that is willing to not worry about the visual inspection.

Yeah I am not required to get emissions due to where I live, however part of the inspection is to visually see a cat. Which by looking at mine you will only see a straight through 3 in monster. I will eventually just weld heatshields on it, but for now i need this in a hurry, so quick cat change and inspection. I am throwing a code, I am running lean on bank one it says lol, whatever that means HAHA

Actually you will knock like an SOB at WOT.

I've already tested this on my EVO. Not advised to go WOT with a tune for high flow parts and not have high flow parts installed.

Just stay out of boost as stated above, and you should be fine.
