Weak upper rpm power

Weak upper rpm power

I have a new mr that has good torque but no upper rpm pull .Is this normal ?It acts like its governed or something.Any input would be appreciated .Thanks Skred

if its stock then its because the stock turbo's hp starts to drop off after about 5500rpms

boost controller and there is one other thing that u can get tha will prevent boost from tappering off but i don't remeber what it called

Boost controller, tune, O2 housing, lower ic pipe, all these will contribute. but boost controller and tune will make significant difference.

My power drops off at like 7300 7400 rpm. My redline is at 8k so I prob need to adjust.

A tune, filter, exhaust, o2 housing, downpipe, should do the trick in your case. For now...

Not true at all. Stock HP peak is @ 6500. Stock TQ peak is @ 3500. What he's likely feeling is boost taper.

Buy a Hallman Pro or Forge UNOS boost controller, set it to 20psi, and you'll want to rev it to 7000 every chance you get. A tune, including modifying your MIVEC maps, will help tremendously as well and will give you much improved spool-up. Add on a 3" turbo-back and you will be in the 320-330WHP range and be capable of running low 12s all day.
