yea shipping lips are very expensive... thats why the ebay ones are like 250+100 shipping.. it would be sweet though to get the shipping down to like 50.00

For that type of package i have found that Fed Ex Ground (green letters) is cheaper. Fed Ex (blue letters) has different rates. Just my 2 cents

Have you checked into Greyhound? I know they are usually pretty cheap. Or if the distances weren't too far apart, just meet halfway.

I ship those lips all the time and it doesnt cost me very much. I have stopped using DHL on all my Ground shipments because I had a lot of issues with them, but I still ship my oversized stuff through them. If I ship it ground they dont charge me very much. A lot of my pricing has to do with the fact that I ship a ton of stuff through them though.

The prices you are getting seem correct for an individual walking into a shipping center wanting to ship something of that size.

Mitsubishi ships those things in a box like that with nothing for padding. Just a lip, a plastic bag and a flimsy cardboard box. They magically make it here ok though. I usually repack them myself w/ bubble wrap.

Its just alot because of the large package fee. Just how it is. Shipped my stock wing for 100. Unless you got a hookup that can send it thats how much you are going to pay.

DHL is probably going to be your best bet. They are always much cheaper than UPS for FedEx on big items.

Believe me when I say this... no one will read the Fragile warnings on the outside of the box. Your wasting ink.

Tonight UPS will process more than 15 million boxes just like yours, the only thing they read is the labels with the shipping address.

Pack the box with something rigid so it won't bend or crush when other boxes are placed on top of it. Keep in mind that you are paying top $$$ based on the overall size of the box and not so much on the weight. So use a smaller box and pack it more securely, like taping it between two 2x4s, and surrounding it with packing material that wont move (not the peanut shaped foam).

Oh by the way... if you don't pack it correctly. None of the carriers will re-reimburse you in case of damage.

Be careful shipping ground with a poorly packaged anything. I had to send my Carbon Fiber hood back to CA from NC off my 00 SI cause it was fading. I was told they were going to send me a new so I paid the 150 bucks to ship.....it got cracked it half on the way, I didnt insure cause I was getting a new one anyway. They told me they were going to refinish mine and resell it so I ended up having to pay 400 more for a new one errrrrrr. I would defintatly insure it through ground shipping and pack it well! Mine was and it still got owned.
