just bought a EVO IV
just bought a EVO IV
i just bought a JDM evo IV and cant really find many parts for it anyone know a good siteor have some points of contact for aftermarket parts for a 96' evo IV
lol are you serious? hopefully you get the car and it wasnt a scam, my brother in law bought a rx7 from oversea's and he ended up losing 15,000$ but he was in the military so i think they figured out how to get his cash back.
Why is it the people that end up with grey market cars dont know much about them? No offense intended, but this is the second Evo IV that has surfaced in the US with an owner who doesnt have much knowledge about the car.
The engine is basically the same as in the VIIIs, the IV was the first Evo that mounted the engine reverse of what the 4G63 has usually been mounted up to that point (like in the DSMs)
That being said, theres a large market of engine parts you can leverage. The suspension doesnt have as much in common however since they went to the wide track with the Evo V. (you would be surprised how much in common the suspension pieces of a V and an VIII/IX have, just ask the guy who converted a 2-door mirage to Evo V "spec")
Please post pics of the car, and info on how you bought it. You didnt get it from Utah by chance, did you?

You do realize the Evo III and Evo IV were based on different platforms, right?
where in bama are you, i'm over in pensacola and have a VI so it's in the same family of evo's. Most engine parts are the same from the 8 but anything attaching to the body is quite different. Also they are a million times more easy to work on than the VIII's and up if you pm me your email i've got the tech manuals for the IV - VI

Suspension wise, the evo4+ do share quite a bit.
The rear end on a 7-9 is is pretty damn near identical to a 5-6, the only difference with the 4 is that the arms are short because of the shorter track.
But bushes, sway bars and shocks are all interchangable between the evo4-9s.
The front of the evo4 can use evo5-6 bushes and shocks, it can use evo7-9 shocks but will require some spacer plates and sleeves for the bolts as the shock flange spacing is wider and the bolts are bigger. Front arms however are different on the 7-9s so they can't be used so too are the subframe and swaybar.
