Unhappy any advice? road debris being kicked up

newb here...

just bought an '06 MR a few weeks ago. The car was pristine. Not one mistake. I inspected it with utmost concern, checking every sqare inch. Last week was the first time i washed it. i noticed when washing my car last week that there was all kinds of small chips and nicks in the paint on the side skirt of the car under the front doors. Some of them are fairly big too. It's all real low on the car, and the only possible culprit is road debris and gravel.

my question is, is there anything that can be done to prevent this, or are there any steps I should take to avoid this. I cried a little inside when i saw these nicks and I feel like I violated some kind of evo rule about not driving on the right roads or something. I'm running stock wheels/tires (ADVAN's). One time, I had to make a U-turn and got stuck pulling into a gravel lot. I cringed, knowing what was about to happen and sure enough, as I got up to speed I could hear the thunder down under. Needless to say I've always tried to avoid off-roading (why by an evo, right?) for this reason, just because i love seeing my baby in best possible condition.

so yeah, anything short of avoiding that crap? i'd also like to not have to buy flaps!

+1 on the clear 3M bra. A few of my friends have them on their evo and it helps a lot. it avoids a lot of cleaning and headaches later down the road

I know exactly what you are saying when I bought my 05 Evo brand new I was the same way for the first few months. The reality of is is that the car is driven on the road and will get chips and scraps and even dings. Hwoever what your talking about is basically on the bottom of the car so who cares?

Thanks for the feedback.

As an above poster mentioned the flaps aren't 'sexy'. heheh.

I'll look into the bra but i've always thought bras were pointless unless you've got a show car, cause otherwise the bra will always be on, clear or not...i dunno.

It sounds like I just need to get used to those sideskirt nicks, even though it's always hard knowing that the car's getting dinged up!!!

Thanks again. Cheers!

The bra is pointless is you already have the rock chips. Id say just drive it for awhile then get it resprayed. Make sure you grab some good clearcoat to help prevent the rockchips (though, it'll make polishing a pain.)

just part of having a car...my moms '98 accord has chips all over the bottom of the front bumper....hardly any paint on there...lol....my ix has a few on the front end...a couple on the side plastic peice at the bottom....a couple on the rear fender...very small...just put some touch up paint on the chips that are in the metal...just let the ones in the plastic go....or u can touch them up if u want...but they won't rust if you don't....lol
