I couldnt disagree more. Having engineer friends in the automotive industry (and a mechanical engineer myself), I can tell you modern cats are NOT as restrictive as you think.
And if different dyno conditions will hide the gain, how much are you really gaining? Oh yea, plus the issue of polluting and possible fines if caught...

modern cats are metallic substrate, the "high flow" that the OP had is a catco version that uses a ceramic substrate which is quite different and restrictive
