Parts and Labor Prices

Do we have a "sticky" anywhere that has parts/labor costs that people have posted for various service? If not, it may be helpfull to those wondering how much certain parts and services are running or for those wondering if their local shop is charging way too much. If there is no such thread, let's try to get it started.
This is for regular service (i.e. alternator replaced etc.) not prices for modifications. But it might not be a bad idea to start a modification price thread. Please only list prices from an invoice, not just prices you think you remember or were quoted on the phone. An estimate with labor/part prices will work also.

Year of vehicle: self explanatory
Trim: IX, RS, SE, MR, MRSE, etc.
Mileage: self explanatory
Date service performed: older labor/part prices may no longer apply
Vehicle modified: Bolt ons, Internals, Appearance, a combination of these or NA
Service performed at: Dealership or other (can list name)
Vehicle under warranty still: yes or no
Service covered under warranty: yes or no or NA
List Parts and Labor prices:

example:
alternator $999.99
labor $ 99.99
Positive battery cable $ 39.99
labor $ 29.99

Try to list specific labor prices separately if they were provided this way. If not, list what you can.

I hope that this may be useful if enough people can participate. If this has been done, please tell me so that we do not start anything that has been done.

I think this thread could be very misleading... and long...
Due to each customer and car varies and especially the work being performed.

You could go into a shop and say, "well you charged this one guy $99 for labor...why am I charged $139?"

I know this thread would be used as a reference tool for people so that they don't get ripped off, but that is why shops offer estimates once they see the issue at hand.

just my .02 cents.

You are right, it could get very long, but thats the point. The more info the better. The search function could help weed through it. And you are also right that it could be misleading. That is why I would want prices off actual invoices only. The more detailed the invoice, the better. Separated labor prices would be best. I know that labor can be discounted if two separate parts are in the same general area and servicing one would make it easier to get to the other. But, once again, the more detailed the info the easier to figure out what a similar job on your car would cost at that particular shop, or should cost at any shop. It would be just a tool to allow people to figure out how much of a bind they may be in or to be able to say that someone is jacking prices way up.

I think this is a great idea for people to get a ballpark idea of what their repairs will cost. However, you're going to have to mod this so that everyone who posts someting gets added to the first post and form a big list of services and costs instead of having it spread out throughout the entire thread. So, to contribute.

Thanks for contributing. Not sure if this thread will hit-it-off or not. If it does, it could be useful.

cause it was obvious to any mechanic that I went into somehting sideways. Both wheel bearings were on the same side, not to mention thta abs sensor and hte chipped teeth on the abs ring on the rear axle. Wasn't even worth trying to play it off like a factory production problem haha
