1400$ For Inspection???

So on Saturday I was driving on the free way I was in 5th gear when I tried to shift to neutral it wouldnt go so as I pulled over my car just stopped and all my wheels locked up.

I towed it to the dealer Monday.

Today I get a call from the service Dept. and they told me that they were gonna charge me 1400 dollars to drop the tranny to inspect what they think is the clutch even tho the clutch is new (OEM) tho.

Depending on if your car is modded or not, I would bring the car to a reputable shop in your area for a better labor rate. If its not modded, then you should be covered under something called...wait I think it's a warranty Good luck, sounds like an ACD problem.

That's crap. My dealer wanted $1000 in labor to replace the clutch, which actually included putting everything back together at the end. I would have laughed in the guy's face if I wasn't on the phone.

If your car is stock with less than 100k on the odo you're still under the powertrain warranty. Even if you've modded the hell out of the rest of the car, as long as you haven't touched the powertrain they're required to fix it for free. See here.

If you're not covered under warranty, put your car on the flatbed and get it the hell out of there. They're a bunch of crooks. Then post which dealership it was so the rest of us know to avoid them. Oh, and report them to the BBB and whatever they have in Cali as far as consumer rights groups go.

By the way, did the clutch feel like it was still working? I could see this if the hydraulic clutch line blew.

Wow sorry to hear that, I just bought a stock ix about 3 weeks ago and notice it was grinding 4th to 5th. I have had the car in the dealership for about a week and thank god I had the warranty cover it because those prices are absurd.

What dealership was this at? I'll never take my car to the dealership unless I absolutely have to. They're effin crooks, even when it comes to small crap like oil filters.
