clicking noise at deceleration

I've searched for a thread that describes my problem, some are close to the actual descriptions but their fixes don't fix my problem. So I'll try this. My tranny blew last spring and after I had it sheperdized and installed I had this strange clicking noise when I would drive and let off the a gas and coast in gear. I brought it back to my mechanic and wouldn't do it anymore so I figured I'd wait until it did it again. Well it never really did. Once in a while I would hear it quickly but then it was gone. Fast forward 6 months and it's started again! Now it does it alot but not everytime I coast in gear. It is speed dependent, meaning it clicks along with the speed I am going at the time. It always happens when I decelerate but only sometimes while I'm taking off. I can't pinpoint the actual problem since it does it while driving, with the windows up it sounds like it's coming from under the car, when they are down it sounds like it's coming from the drivers side. Are there any heat shields that the driveshaft could be hitting? I have an aftermarket exhaust so it can't be stock exhaust sheilds . Are there shields above the drive shaft? It's really pissing me off. The closest thing I could use to describe the noise is a card in bike spokes. Please help me!
