Remember Mitsubishi is sending a limited amount of cars as a test because they don't know if they can sell them all. I don't know if you guys have notice but at the beginning of this tread there were some dealers that said that they were going to sell the car at MSRP but know after good knows how many people have call to ask for the car the same dealers are starting to mark them up.

I will not pay over MSRP. I will rather wait till 2004 if necessary to have one. One thing.. I will get mine, but I will pay a fair amount for it.

Legally all deposits on a car that's not purchased is refundable.
and 2k is the median amount. and yes, the price will be anywhere from 30-40k for the evo.

30 to 40K? I'd be very surpised. This isn't the Evo VII. This car has about the same power to weight ratio as the G35 sedan and doesn't rate a 40K price tag. Geez, you could get a Vette or a Cobra Mustang to mention two for that kind of money. The WRX and EVO aren't special because of the performance they offer, they're special because they do it for less money than anything else on the road. Once you get into the 30s or 40s, this car becomes less interesting.

The WRX and EVO aren't special because of the performance they offer? You mean WRX STI and EVo? These arent performance cars? What other cars have steerign ration of 2:1 lock, recaro seating, brembo brakes? Mustang drives like a boat "3700lbs" and the evo is able to handle with a ZO6. One ecu, downpipe, catless, and 12 sec quarter mile not mentioning great handling.

Don't forget to hire a lawyer to help with warranty issues ( $200 an hour). Break a modified car under warranty and the dealer will say, "go ahead and take me to court". Again, the Evolution is not the Evo VII. It's 200 to 300 pounds heavier and the handling won't be anywhere near the same. It's a great car ( although the wing is really gay), but when you get into the 30's or 40's, there's lot's of alternatives which include S4's Vettes, Mustangs, 350Z, BMWs which will do the 1/4 mile in the 13's. A perfomance car that costs $40,000 is nothing special, a performance car that costs $25,000- that's impressive.

At Merle Hay Mitsubishi we get a listing of what we are getting about 1-2 months ahead with option group (fogs), so we know what equipment we are getting.

Our deposits are refundable - they are only earnest money to cull out non-serious inquiries. when we get the car, we call you. If you don't want it and you want off of our list, we send it back.

If you have further inquiries about this topic, call Garry Nutter at 1-800-356-5260 or e-mail me at gn4515@yahoo.com

So is there an MSRP Mitsu dealer in California?

I hear east coast etc but not CA.
I talked to the local Mitsu place and they were clueless about the car but very clued in to charge a markup (demand and supply blah blah..)

Cheers

From what I hear, there is no CA dealer selling for MSRP - they are using fair market value pricing, which means that they can sell it for whatever someone will pay. Merle Hay Mitsubishi in Des Moines Iowa is not doing that, but is selling for MSRP. Unfortunatly, we are not in California.

Will you guys do "courtesy delivery"... well, I think this question
is better for CA dealers....

(And let me answer for them... "NO! HELL NO!")

1800 miles??.. around $1150 for a enclosed trailer... might sound
expensive.. but it's DIRT CHEAP compare to the 5000 markups..

I see what you mean. If it is less than 30K (I say about 1000-2000 less than the STi). It also has a boatload more options and colors available.

Another consideration is for me to fly there. If I can fly there for $200.

Cheers

I would suggest flying out to pick it up and driving back, much more cost effective with the airline tickets being so inexpensive. Shipping from Des Moines would be about 2k with our shipper. I'd rather road trip. . .
