Unhappy *Clutch*

Here goes another story of a Clutch *KO*.

Guys is it normal for a clutch to be gone after 30K Mileage?. Cos mine just went outta commission. Was revving from 2nd gear to 3rd gear. then my clutch pedal was stuck all the way down and i could not change my gears. Had to get a tow truck(how sad).

I would appreciate it if anyone could give me any recommendations on what clutch i should be using. Estimate hp of my car would be 320bhp. with Stage 1 mods.

Thanks

Exedy twin SD seems to be popular. It is a tad expensive but should last you decently long and give you some room for more torque down the road.

For a rather inexpensive upgrade that will hold up to some abuse I would recommend to check out either of these Fidanza clutches. I recommend Fidanza over any of the other clutches in this price range such as Centerforce, ACT or the single plate Exedy's.

Not to mention if you were to have a problem with anything Fidanza has great customer support.

The EvoM project car uses the 3.2 and had a really good review on here plus the ones I have sold ive recieved good feedback on from those who bought them.

If you are going to go with this and our price is any higher than anyone else who offers it (which it shouldnt be)... please PM me and i'll see what I can do for you on price.

I'll be glad to help out!

ACT with the HD pressure plate and street disc.

Although that's not the normal failure mode for for a worn out clutch. Was the clutch stuck engaged or disengaged? If if was stuck engaged, then you may have popped the hydraulic line. If it was stuck disengaged, it may be a seized throwout bearing or other assorted mechanical failure.

That sucks man. I would check the slave cylinder first if you lost pedal like that. If you do need a clutch, Exedy Twin is the way to go. Good luck.

hmm, check to see if you have fluids in the Master Cylinder & make sure there's no leakage. What's your goal for the car? dd, weekend dragster/road course machine or strictly for racing? A decent clutch will run u between $1500 to $2000 easily... Exedy Twin HD or Carbonetic Twin Carbon are good choices

cheers.

There was fluid in the master cylinder and there is no leakage. My goal is just a weekend drive as this is not my DD car.

A car at this power level I dont feel needs an Exedy Twin let alone a Carbon clutch. If he's going to further upgrade and look for more then I would recommend looking at a multi-plate clutch. Something more expensive than the Fidanza's I recommended in my first post in here especially if you're going to be putting it through alot of abuse.

The Exedy's can be rebuilt when the time comes.

You are right. The most i would go for my car is around 350bhp. As i would not want to break my bank in changing the turbo.. pistons.. cams...

Then I would say the Fidanza 3.2 would be a better choice depending on how much abuse you're going to put the car through.

I would also recommend doing what the others have said and find out what the problem is because the pedal should not be stuck to the floor. You may not even need a clutch at this time.

Being a 4-puck design how is that 3.2 clutch for daily street driving?

Thanks for your advise. The car will be checked by the mechanics tomorrow.
