does anyone know where you can get the plastic (pillars) i guess you call them. The plastic trim all around the outside of the windows. Mine has been dried up and damaged by the sun. Its gray and starting to crack in some spots. If someone else has had this issue please give me some guidance as to helping me fix it or get new trim. Thanks.

I've gutted my car (Evo IX RS) and have all the interior trim which is just taking up space in my garage.

Let me know what exactly you need, and I'll get you a price. My guess is you want the A, B and C pillar trim above the beltline of the car -- the stuff that is gray, not the lower black trim.

no i dont need the interior stuff..all the black plastic that is on the outside of the car has faded. I need the plastic pieces on the outside of the car. Cool lookin car though.

 

The weather-stripping? Or the black like in between the front/read side windows, the shiny stuff? Or the plastic like where the side mirrors bolt into, (I think they are called J-panels)?


Its an IX??? and its fading, holy crap man, where has it been sitting?? What did you use to clean it before it cracked?

 

Yeah thats it!!! The black stuf inbetween the front and rear windows...except mines not shiney its because i have a MR. But yeah thats the stuff can anybody help me.

I am fairly certain that Mitsu will sell this.

Another option would be to try to find a totaled Evo in a junk yard and grab it from there.

sounds like you are looking for the weather striping around the front and rear wind shield.

just get the carbon fiber pieces that rexpeed sells to cover them. he sell a 6 piece kit and i bet it is cheaper and better looking than what you would get from the dealership.

 

well im not to big on slapping pieces of carbon over other peaces...i mean i dont really wanna do that its really not my style..but thanks for the advice though i will take it into consideration. Yeah its the weather stripping stuff. Does any one know if its easy to replace yourself or would i have to get a mitsu tech to do it.? Yeah i used meguirs gold class soap to wash the car i didnt use anything specific to clean the plastic.

 

actually that stuff is called sash tape....it's not plastic...but a type of tape...doesn't just snap on...it is stuck on...u'd have to peel it off and get it redone...it is normal for this stuff to fade over time...i don't know why yours would already be faded though....usually takes several years b4 this happens

 

I replaced a door sash on the rear driver's side door. I ended up buying the driver's door one at first on accident. I still have it, here is a picture.



I think it was about $18 from the dealership.

 

yeah that looks like its in the shape of what i need but it looks so much like a plastic piece on my car. So your saying its just a sticker? Wow. do you have any more pictures of that? Do you have any pics of it on your car?

 

It's just a thick sticker.

I never took the one I didn't use out of the package. Otherwise, I would take a pic of it showing the black side. I think you get the idea though.
