Any thoughts on buying a used HFC ( say 15k miles on it )? How long do these cats last for?

hmmm, I really wouldn't be too worried about it, but then again, a brand new one can't run more then like $150?

The Buschur replacement cat IS $150:

https://secure.buschurracing.com/cat...46daf666f9629d

But this APS one at lancershop.com is more like $300:

Maybe the Buschur part isn't true 3" in/out. Cats can have either a ceramic core or a stainless steel core.

Also, there are differences in the amount of precious metals - platinum, palladium, and rhodium - used in the catalyst's core, which would affect both the price of the part and the effectiveness of the unit.

The metal core cats cost more, flow better and will last a very long time....hence the added cost.

The cheaper ceramic cores (catco) don't flow near as good and wont last as long compared to a metal core.

If you are going hf cat I would just invest in a good flowing metal core and call it a day....

Buy Metal substrate cats ONLY...

By a 100 cell if you can...

Used, well, that's your call...

Found this bolt-on Evo application 3" Catco catalytic for $159 - might be a good option, although I doubt it's a stainless steel core for that price:

Isn't a Buschur slip-fit on one end and flanged on the other? I believe the downpipe they make is slip-fit on the cat side, and the catback is flanged on the cat side.

Something like that... that's why Bushcur's highflow cat only works with their 3" exhaust stuff:

I had a helix hi-flow cat on my car which failed within 20k miles.

I don't recommend buying stuff like this used.
