I think its great that alot of people are paying down/off their credit cards. Eliminating that will allow you to have more disposable income which helps the economy.

Saving money in by putting it into a retirement account or a retail mutual fund will also mean you are investing in our economy.

I will likely use the money toward my vacation in May or put it in one of my T Rowe Price accounts.

I'm sure you know this, but having a credit card will help you have better credit.

No joke. I used credit cards when I was younger and didn't have the income like I do now to help me get by and buy the big ticket things I needed (home furnishings, car parts, etc.). Once I had built up enough credit for me to be able to get a $18,000 car loan without a cosigner, I paid off all my credit cards. I still keep 2 of them with a $0 balance just in case something major comes up, but I never use them for day-to-day purchases. It felt really good when I was in my mid-twenties and the 2003 Evo was my first brand new car and I didn't have to have a cosigner on it, even though I borrowed over $25,000 on the car. Now I'm a year away from being 30, I'm credit card debt free, and all my bills are simply my monthly recurring bills. All of my spending is done in cash or with a debit card. The debit card is mostly used at gas stations or online shopping. At any given point in time I usually carry about $300 in cash on me for any kind of stuff that I see and want. You'd really be surprised how much money you SAVE by carrying cash and not swiping a card every time you want something.

I live by this rule. I only keep out a preset amount of cash each week that I know will last me all week. This is the only way I can save money. If I use my debit card exclusively, I'm always broke

Holy crap, I wish I made more money and got/had more tax deductions... 5100 is like 10 times what I am getting Hopefully I really do get the extra 600 from the tax "rebate" too though.

I refuse to buy into Bush's proposal only to make it terrible for us Americans when the economy does increase. To me, the economy needs to slow down... it's costing way too much money to drive, to get a house, and to buy food. It's also getting harder and harder to find a job.

I'll be saving my money for when I need it.
