new to the evo but seems slow

Ive had my 2003 stock evo for 4 months. but the car seems kinda slow to me and considering im coming from an svt focus that should not be lol. any suggestions. i have a boost gauge its reading about 20psi steady so its not a boost issue.

Could it be a tuning thing. I know with my evo, when I had a dp, cat delete, cat back, boost controller, bov etc the car was running horribly. After the tune was a different story all together. Also know that with turbo cars the pull is in the boost, 3400 to 5500 rpms or so. Once the boost has topped out the tq drops off.

keep in mind a boost leak won't show up on your boost gauge...it'll still "show" whatever boost you're set to...but if you have a leak, you'll have to manually test for it.

As for quick, go-fast mods, I'd suggest an exhaust, mbc (if you don't already have one), lower ic pipe, and a tune - if you want something relatively cheap and quick.

It could be your driving style. The Evo is a car you have to plan your next move in when playing with someone on the highway. You need to make sure your boost is up and already be in the correct gear. I know sometimes if I don't get it just right it just doesn't amaze me in power, but if I plan it out then it hauls ***. I hope this helps it is kind of hard to explain.

maybe on a IX, but he has a 2003 without a 10.5 hotside...so i'd expect his numbers with those mods to be lower.

good call about the fuel pump, forgot about that.

Having gotten used to my evo owning it for a year now, still stock, i feel the same way It gets exciting when your doing high rpms but other then that it does feel slow. Hopefully that feeling goes away when I get my bolt ons and tune as soon as winter is over heh heh.

To be quite honest, I've never really thought my car felt "slow." But you do get used to it being quick. Just keep adding a few things every few months and you'll be good to go.

before you start modding, make sure you check if there is another boost leak.
