oil question

I just changed the oil on my 05 evo8 (mobil1 fully syn. and filter) and I noticed the oil kind of smells like gas. Is this normal, cuz this is the first time I've been around syn and evos. Also, I checked my oil today and the oil on the dipstick had a slight gas smell too. Any thoughts? thanks

No worries...As long as you don't see separated water in the drained oil, and it's not milky in color you're good. It picks up some gas/exhaust from some that makes it by the rings.

ok...I figure the high boost push some exhaust past the rings but wasn't sure if it was just mine. Any ideas on products to help that (engine treatments)?

Car my be running rich in the cold weather and your oil does not heat up enough to vaporize the fuel/water vapor. It takes 30-40 min of driving to heat up your oil. that is why short trips require frequent oil changes.
