The one you posted pictures of is not called the rally Evo. It's not even an Evo. It's the WRC Lancer. The one in the YouTube commercial is, in fact, a Rally Spec Evo 8.

Best evo commercial ever! But my problem is that I never saw a commercial in America for the Evo until the X came out. And you know, I think it's because the Evo VIII and IX weren't about commercials. They didn't care if no one knew what they were. In fact the mentality of the Evo VIII and IX was all about being unknown, underrated, unadvertised, and UNBEATABLE!!!

The Evo X is getting air time in America now cause it's built to a wider demographic. It's not geared towards ONLY the racing tuners, late night specialists and night black-top samurai's if you will. People like that knew of and got a hold of VIII and IX cause they're attracted to it regardless of how low key they were. The X on the other hand, is a more refined, user friendly (seriously, you could suck at driving and look like a pro in this car on any track) and market competitive car. For the first time, basically, it makes sense for Mitsu to pay for the advertisement in the US.
These are the EVO IX WRC car pictures. I didn said its an VIII Sherlock, i quoted one question from Youtube....
so much for stickers on the headlight though...this is not a ricer.
