car payment: 300
insurance: 89.60
gas: 100
I'm 29 and married so insurance isn't that bad, plus I only drive it on Fridays and Saturdays so I get another insurance break for keeping it under X amount of miles a year.

I pay:

400 a month car payment
140 a month insurance
160+ a month for gas

equals 700 a month

Oil changes cost me about 60 to do myself with mitsu filter and Mobil 1 every 3-5000 miles

plugs every 3,000 are $12-$14 if you do it yourself

But maintenance varies
This month alone I've spent $890 for tires and a new windshield

but I do have an 03 with almost 70,000 on the odometer so things start to break

I've already:

rebuilt the tranny $ 2500

replaced the clutch $1200

replaced the front struts $500

Timing belt $600

and rebuilding the engine at about 80,000 miles too

Plus a few thousand in mods and tuning

so just keep in mind owning this vehicle costs $$$$$$ no way out of it.

Hope that helps you get an idea of what your getting into. Overall the evo is a great car, I love it. Things break because the cars are generally pushed farther than most cars. Are they pieces of ****....not at all, in fact the engine alone is tough as nails. The paint and interior quality is another story

Evo was monthly:
0 Payment (hooray for California Real Estate!)
~100 gas
100 insurance
~50 maintenence (avg out for the year, minus the cost of track equipment [track tires, gas at the track, track pads, etc]

Porsche is:
320 payment
~100 gas (almost the exact mpg as the Evo, on average...)
109 insurance ( at the Evo and its high insurance)
~14 in maintenence (Yes, really, but that isn't including parts if something breaks...)

Can you afford to keep up with that on a part time job? Personally, I wouldn't go for a car that expensive on a parttime job. It just doesn't seem reliable. But if you can afford it and that's what you want, go for it.
