odometer problems is final step..HELP!

my friend just finshed rebuilding his wrecked evo 9...all is good but the problem is that the odometer is not working, its not moving at all, could there be a fuse blown(he checked everyone) or maybe a broken plug somwhere? need help asap, this is the only thing holding him back from his inspection, thanks

If the speedometer works and the odometer doesn't, it sounds like a problem in the electronics of the gauge assembly. To the best of my knowledge the odometer is just an electronic integration of the speed and I think that is done in an integrated circuit on the gauge assembly, but it may be done in another circuit board. Can he get or borrow a used/working gauge assembly?

i know this seems elementary, but is the speed sensor connected in the transmission? maybe is missing or broken?

I'm pretty sure it's right on top of the bell housing as well ... it's fairly obvious as I remember, but I might be recalling the transmission area without the battery try installed.

The diagram is not very good, but it appears that the sensor is on the top back corner of the transmission near the transaxle. I doubt it is near the bell housing as I expect it to be connected to the output shaft.
