clunking noise...wtf?

whats up guys, I just installed a clutch 2 weeks ago, and I have this "clunking" sound coming from the right front. it sounds the way a "broken" strut mount does (from what I know) but I didnt touch them while doing it. Im assuming it is obviously something with the axle or ball joint but am clueless. I looked at it when I changed my oil on thursday and got nowhere. I dont notcie it driving/handling any different, just whenever I go over a bump, it knocks, or rattles/clunks. If I crank the wheel all the way to the right (turning around etc.) I hear it too...any ideas?

Just so you know... there's a HUGE thread on here of that same problem. Many ppl have that same clunking noise, but there doesn't seem to be one cause. I had the same problem you are describing but couldn't find anything wrong. It went away when I installed my Megan Street Coilovers.

I think this is the thread... https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...clunking+noise

You should get it seen to ASAP!! I had same issues and drove around for a week without getting it fixed, went over a speedbump and the wheel came off. What happens is after the clutch install there's a bolt which connects the trailing arm to the wheel which comes loose if it hasen't been tightened properly then after a few days the bolt will pop out and the trailing arm sits on the ball joint with the weight of the car the only thing holding it up. You need to get that bolt checked or tightened if it's still even there.

Cheers.

Thanks for the linky. I've been having the same problems but I haven't replaced my clutch yet.

I have this problem too. When I pull my car out of the driveway, it makes a clunking noise at the exact same location every time. Strange thing is that its the only time that the car would make that sound until the next time I take her out. Im guessing its either the rear brake unsticking, rear diff unlocking, or a broken suspension part.
