Evo Viii?
Evo Viii?
Hey guys I wanted to ask your opinion.. I know that this can be biased because this is a Mitsubishi board, but I was leaning toward an Evo anyways.
So, as far as fun goes would you say the Evo VIII beats an S2K? I know performance wise the Evo kills the S2K. But one thing that can't be had is the convertible, rwd, cool looking tach etc...
An Evo you can tune for power easier (I think)
Turns better
Evo's faster
Holds the road better
But, it eats more gas and the insurance costs more..
Thing is the S2K is so old and underpowered by today's standards it makes it hard to decide.. so what do ya think?

Evo, in my opinion. Insurance? I'm not so sure of though man, 2 door sports coupe convertable, lots of things for them to up the price. The Evo under mine is considered a "4 Door Sedan". Call your insurance company and see what they say about that..
My buddy had a S2K. Loved going on drives taking turns leading on little windy GA backroads with me in the Evo and him in the Honda. Those cars handle very well. They look like they just glide around a corner with no body roll. He would slide around in the rain for fun thanks to RWD, but it does make it difficult to gain traction when you need it. Still, we've had fun times taking turns driving each others car. I freakin' love 'em, but I'm always glad to be back in the Evo.
It just feel more practical if that makes sense.

I think the Evo makes a better DD. It has a back seat, it has a trunk you can actually put something in, and with the AWD you can drive it in the snow.
I would like to have a S2K as a second, summer car.
Just my .02

I would go for the evo since it has room for more people, cup holders n such plus its mod friendly n its fun to drive, n yes the insurance is high but hey there's always a balance in some way, like people say u gotta pay to play, idk about comparing the performance to the s2k, I'm an evo guy so I would def. say that the evo would out perform the s2k and they're around price aren't they, I have friends that own s2k's n they're nice rides I'll have to admit but they don't fair too well from a dig obiviously, nor from a roll from the ones I've raced against (could jus be the driver though), in the end I would go with a evo for DD n an s2k as a weekend cruise car or somethin
I got tired of the S2K very quickly...its noisy because of the soft top, very cramped inside and to be honest, not that fast. I would bet on a DC5 Type R any day over the S2000 on any track. Initially I thought that I just didn't have the skills to maximize the S2000 on track...but in a lot of the japanese videos comparing the DC5 Type R and the new Civic Type R also, the S2000 seem to lose out all the time...
So while the S2000 is such a cool looking car, and such a great package...its lack in torque, back biting handling charachteristics, and hard to modify (as in hard to get rollcage and harness without removing the soft top) makes it too much of a compromise for me and may weekend track sessions.
But it really depends on what you are looking for...if you want to torque and power of the EVO, you can always supercharge the S2000 to get it close to that and you still get the cool looks. But for all out handling and practicallity, and probably better laptimes, the EVO has my vote.
