Many people have added comments in this thread that are wrong....and spreading misinformation.
Oem jdm ix bumper comes painted and fits perfect.
You CAN use the stock crash beam with little modification. The arms need to be cut and rewelded....very simple. This should not affect the crash beams ability to work properly. Also, if you did have an accident their is NO WAY an adjuster would know the beam was slightly modified if it is done correctly.
If you can buff the bumper out than go for it....but if you decide to go jdm.....make sure you buy oem jdm and have someone modify the stock beam.

lol @ my evo's *** cuz its not even sexy right now , but yea i live about 1 hr 45 min north of LA. I always go for no good reason like if it was the other side of town so LA is not far from me, can you give me info on that shop? how much did it cost for you?
even with a modified crash beam, if you get in an accident and your insurance sees that, you take the risk of them dropping you and/or not paying for your car to be repaired. its a gamble. thats why i never got a jdm rear
jdm ix
go to google, type in your city and the word "welding" and it should show you a bunch of results, now start calling down the list to see who will modify your crash beam so the jdm bumper will fit, also, if you have an aftermarket exhaust, tell the welder to shorten up the exhaustsystem so that you wont have a huge muffler tip sticking out.
if your a safe driver, and you get into an accident, then rest assured knowing that your crash beam was only slightly modified (its just the brackets that need to be brought in i think) and if thats the case, the insurance company wont even know, those brackets will bend in the event of a rear collision, and they arent about to measure a tiny piece of bent metal that doesnt even seam to be modified to the untrained eye without probably cause.
