trade in values

hey guys as it seems you can't ever go by KBB or NADA cause when you get to the dealer its always lower. What have you guys been seeing with trade in values or even experienced? I have an 05 w/SSL and 34k on it. Never been wrecked or painted in great condition. I'm just needing to get out of this large payment. I'm in the car pretty good, but I was going to take a good amount for a down payment and work with it that way. Hard for mento decide exactly what I want. I'm really undecided on what I want to get but something different just kinds curious what everyone was getting or being quoted. Is it a good idea to take advantage of rebates on new cars? I look at it as the fact they are offering the rebate cause that's really what the vehicle should be sold for. Any expert help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Matt

The stealership is trying to rape people on trade ins these days to maximize prophets... you sure as hell can go by what KBB and NADA says... or better yet goto eBay and look up ended auctions and DO NOT BUDGE.

i just got something in the mail from my local dealership that said they're offering full value on trade ins. from what i gathered they'll completely pay off the car if i trade in for something newer.

i'm almost positive that doesn't apply to lancer evolutions though. but i have no intentions of trading this car in, so i'm not too worried about it.

Offtopic: What are you talking about? All mitsubishis are "mass produced".

I have a 03 w/ 43k. I was offered $15k. The car is in immaculate shape. I tried to negotiate, they gave me an extra $1,000. Still wouldn't let it go for $16,000.

Use that "big" down payment and refinance to bring your payment down to something you could live with...

Do use KBB/ NADA They reflect true value of the car. Dealerships try to give you nothing for the car because they make more profit that way. When i traded in my lancer they gave me 9 for it. 2 months later a friend of a friend bought it and he paid 16 for it from same dealer. no joke. Also this weekend The wife was thinking about trading in her lexus is250. NOt a scratch on it kbb says 25 trade in 28 private party. The stealership said they would give her 19 for her car and tried to sell us a 05 jetta with 45000 miles on it for 23k. There just trying to make a profit off you and some will budge and some wont. After we laughed at the kid he came back and said what about 21 and we got up and walked out. If your not upside down on the car look at praivate party. Way easier to deal with than getting less for your car and having them tack on your so called "negative equity" onto a new vehicle that will loose 15% of its value the minute you drive off the lot.
