Question on warranty for modding

Anyone know what exactly you can do without voiding the warranty? is it just reflashing? I wanna put a turbo back exhaust and air intake. Is this smart without reflashing? any suggestions?

Subjective to what the dealer classifies as mods that will "void your warranty", that is what I found. Best bet is call them and ask or find drivers that have use your particular dealer or dealers in your area and see what they did or did not like... you get the point.

I'm sure it'll be fine if you restall the OEM parts when you take the car in for warranty fix.

I had the same plan, exhaust, intake, maybe a boost controller, and a reflash. But I'm scared as hell that somehow the dealer would find out about the mods, since I'd take it all off before I brought it in.

Like most of the people here will tell you, depends on the dealer, its true.

but in most cases, you can get away with Trubo back.

acceptable are: turbo timer, boost gauge, and K&N drop in air filter.

rest of it, flash, (if they find out) intakes, (they hate MBC)

It's not ideal. You should get your car tuned after any engine mod. That said, I've got a TBE on my car now without any tuning.

I wonder.... if you have a flash done. How would the dealer find out that the ecu is flashed? Talking about flash, do you guys think that the Through The Mail flash is decent? Anyone uses that service yet?

What if you buy someone else's stock ecu. could that work, use that one as the modded one and have your stock ecu as the "bring her in for warranty repairs" ecu.

I've found this to be true at my dealership (Gillman Mitsubishi SW), but they are good about only voiding the parts that are affected. Just today my service rep told me about a new guy that came in with a heavily modded silver Evo with (among other things) a catless exhaust system (illegal), and he mentioned offhand,
"yeah, he's modded it so much that he's only got a few things on the car that are still warrantied."

I was surprised they would warranty anything with all the guy's mods.

Ok if its different for each dealer then I have no idea who the original dealer was, I bought a repo ed evo ix at an amazing "undisclosed" price. haha. everythings fine it had 8,000 miles and remaining 5 year or 50000mile warranty, i thought it was standard on every evo.
