I believe they would just stick out too much or around the tire like a bubble. And probably some modification depending on what offset you are running.

tire bulging out a little doesn't bother me much...extra curb protection... how do people stuff 285s under stock fenders?? alot of negative camber???

Depends highly on the offset of the wheels. Fitting a 275 tire on a 9.5" wheel on stock fenders definitely takes some work...be very careful with your offsets. And you'll probably need to roll/trim your fenders (front and back) and run some camber.

I'm running a wide 245 (fits more like a 255) on an 18x9.5 +22 and its pretty close to rubbing. A less aggressive offset (maybe like a +28 or so in front and a +38 in the rear) may give you the room you need.

we run 285's on 9.5s..

its going to depend entirely on the tire construction, not all section width measurements mean the width will be the same...

go to the manufacturers site and look up, tread width and section width, usable rim width you will see the difference..
