OK...so i lost my ONLY key that i had.... now im stuck just looking at my car i can get inside because i have the spare clifford alarm but i cant drive it, mitsu wants $160.00 for a new key and i have to tow the car over there i called a local place they will do it for $150.00 and he will come over but he told me that if i have a KEY CODE it will be a lot cheaper... does anyone know where i can get this KEY CODE?? he says that its a code to make they key and that every car has one... i have a 2003 evo 8, please if someone knows anything please help..

And another question once i program the new key would the old lost one be disabled? or the old key will still work?? im scared that i will get my car stolen due to the lost keys.. with the alarm and all please advice thank you.

If you have a tactrix cable you can get it via ECU flash. Otherwise just pay the locksmith and do it for you.

The Key code ie immobilizer won't really help you much.

What he's talking about is that some manufacturers have a "tag" with the key, so they can cut it from computer. I never heard of mitsu coming out with one nor seen it with the keys.

You would need to get the car in so they can re-cut the blank to match the cylinder. It would still mean the old key will work, but it won't be able to start the car if they put in a new security code for the chip, which is easy enough.

no call mitsubishi's service department and ask for the key code'S or even the parts department with the VIN they should be able to pull it up on the screen OR they should call mitsubishi and they can get you the key codes. Codes as in plural one is to cut the key and the other is to program a chipped key. hope this helped. good luck
