Evo VS Dump truck driveshaft, EVO: 0 | Driveshaft: 1

Let me just start off by saying that 2008 sucks so far

There is so much god damn construction going on in Jacksonville, every single road is either being repaved or something else is being built on it. All day long I hear asphalt kicking up at my bumper causing paint chips galore.

As I was heading to class today I get onto the highway and everything is normal. All of a sudden I see a little black thing in my lane and I hear a loud BANG. This noise was very similar to the sound of my transfer case exploding about a year ago. Constant metal on metal smashing and shearing all over the place. I immediately pulled over and started yelling at construction workers because I didn't know what the hell I even hit. As i'm walking up to them they are removing the drive shaft from the highway. I tell them to radio the FHP who was on the other side of the highway and come over. At this point I needed to move my car to pavement so I could jack it up and remove the mangled Beatrush under tray. As we go about another half mile down the highway we see the truck, it couldn't go anywhere because it had no ****ing driveshaft!

I got his information and he got mine, now it's just going to be an insurance battle

RIP
Beatrush.
Exhaust.
1 Rota 17x9 P45R

The initial hit.

What use to be flat.

Remainder of the beatrush.

YEAH, it did manage to hit my BRAND NEW wheels.

Partly hit my transmission and sheared one of the bolts.

As of right now I don't even think I want to drive the car, the wheel isn't even straight anymore so the alignment is definitely off as well. I didn't even have these wheels on long enough to do a photo shoot, I took these the day I put them on.

Yeah, I agree, sucks that it happened, but the majority of those unfortunate enough to encounter debris on the road usually don't have anyone to hold accountable. You should look on the bright side that you got the insurance information from the dump truck.

I grew up in Jacksonville, and I think the roads there are just as bad today as they were 15 years ago. Luckily my parents live on the northside of town so when I visit with the Evo I usually avoid the crap on I-95 and other areas.

Yeah, just talked with their insurance company. I've got an appointment to get an estimate on Tuesday so now I just need to gather all my receipts together for everything damaged.

I just hope something else isn't damaged that i've missed or breaks later on ;/

That does suck bro.One of my old cars was hit by a softball size piece of metal off of a 18 wheeler. It took a huge chunk out of my bumper and of course I had to pay to have it fixed.Good luck with the repairs.

Well said!

So many times you see debris on the road and have no clue where it originated from.

I've seen mattresses, sheetrock, foam insulation, sonotube, and of course hubcaps.

Good luck OP .

Sorry to here that man. You should see me when dump trucks get in front of me. lol

Still a couple months ago I saw the strangest thing on the road...a full blown COUCH...yes the one you sit on.

Seriously it look like some people picked it up and set it in the middle lane horizontally. Took up the whole lane. Good thing I was watching the road. Was at night too.

I would say EVO 1 Dumptruck 0. Sure you took some damage, but you were the only one to drive away!!!

That is true, I drove by the truck again and it's still sitting on the side of the highway

Wow, I don't know which is worse, yours or the guy's Evo that got pelted with hail stones. Hope your/their insurance doesn't try to screw you over.

Good luck.

The bright side: it didn't come thru the windshield about head level...

Good luck getting it straightened out and back on the road.
