Rally Mod Suggestions
Rally Mod Suggestions
I'm going to be getting a evo ix this summer to hopefully rally with one day and I'm new to the game (modding and rallying), so I was wondering what people would suggest as far as modifications (types or brands) to the car's engine, suspension, tires, etc. Thanks for the help.
Wouldn't mind bringing
BTW, I did a search and looked around and couldn't find anything relevant to this topic, if there's another thread, lemme know.

There's a lot to learn, but for starters, you'll want to learn the car and how to drive it before going crazy modifying it.
Attend high performance driving schools and autocross events for starters... once you feel comfortable whipping your new car around, you'll have a better idea of what you need to buy and practice to improve.
Most of the people will suggest typical street-car engine mods like exhaust, a tune, etc... the key for rally-cross or all-out-rallying is going to be smart, well-rounded, well-funded mods. A real rally car costs hundreds of thousands of dollars and man-hours to maintain for even one season... but if you're referring to a street car that you can take to road race & rally-x events, that's fine.
Consider spending as much research and money as you can on suspension, tires, and above all.... track time. The rest of the "go fast" mods will be beneficial only when you're able to control the car at a high level of speed.

I've definitely got a lot of practice to do, and I've been reading on here and articles about it probably an hour or two a day trying to catch up, so I'm working on the understanding part. Practicing will be next (gotta get the bad boy first)! If I seem to be doing all right after this year, I'll probably try to make it to the O'Neil school next summer.
Well, I'm going to try to practice on dirt and gravel roads because that seems to be most common in rallying (and we don't have snow in the south
) The purpose of this thread is I'd like to get an idea what I should start looking more in depth into, instead of just learning generally about everything.
Thanks!
EDIT: I'm going to learn on the Evo for AWD at the same time, but as for Rallying I have to start on a 2WD anyways before I can get the higher licenses, so I won't be using the Evo for a while for it. Recommend a certain car?
