To tune or not to tune...

I spoke with a local shop today about getting my car tuned, they said I'd be lookin at about $600 for a dyno tune. BUT, then suggested that I may not even need a tune. Power Mods are as follows: Hallman MBC@ 21 psi, full TBE+cat delete, Walbro 255lph fuel pump, and Apex Intake w/power duct. Should I hold off until I save the money for more mods, or would it be worth my $ to get it flashed now? Thanks again to all the internet gods out there!

you def need a tune IMHO if they said you don't need a tune for those mods I wouldn't even consider going to them for anything else, they obviously don't know what they are doing

^That's kinda what i thought fenrig...he said I wouldn't really notice any power gains from my mods thus far, so a flash wouldn't help me...and to answer your question silver it'll most likely be a few months...gf's graduating from college so we'll be buyin a house together so I gotta save up some cash...and as a side note...we'll be getting married in the near future and the subject of my car was brought up...she actually LIKES my car and wants me to keep it! She HATED it at first. Now that's love! :-P

Get a tactrix, forget the dyno tune for 600 right now. You should DEFINITELY be able to feel a difference with a reflash. I have the same mods and gained over 70hp over stock on 91 octane.

Are you nuts?!?!? $600 for a tune?!?!? If you want a dyno tune go to Buschur Racing next time Dynoflash is there since you live in OH. Otherwise do a base flash mail in from Dynoflash or AMS or Ivey or a ton of other better cheaper places than that shop you went to. I would do some reading on this forum before you touch your car any more.

well if its only gonna be a few months just wait but as to your tuner saying you wont see much of a hp increase for your mods i dissagree i got a tune with only a fuel pump and an intake and got 30hp over my baseline so you would get close to the same even more but i would still wait

I know $600 was high...I was just curious as to if I should tune or not. I would never pay that much for a dyno tune at this point...I'm not that crazy!

Always tune, you won't be getting close to the full potential from your mods without tweaking the stock maps.

Give 4WS Tuning an PM and you'll be He's a great guy to work with and can get to your email as soon as he can unless he's out killing other guys on his other hobby (paintball). Anyways, I'm almost done with my tune thanks to 4WS Tuning it cost me only $150 plus the cable which is $98 but I get to keep the cable for myself. I can feel the diff from an untuned to a tuned Evo.

By the way, I heard that "road tuned" is a lot better than "dynotuned" so the end result is your decision. It's your money so spend it the way you want it. $150 or $600. E-magine what you can buy with the difference in price??? Good luck
